Choco-Orange Hot Mess

The orange & chocolate combo has always been a favorite mine. It reminds me of my mama, she's a fan too.

Prep Time: 20 mins

Freeze Time: Overnight or 2hrs ++

Serves up to 6 people

Dough / Base Ingredients

  • 13 Dates
  • 1 cup Walnuts
  • 1/4 cup Chia Seeds

Chocolate Filling Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Raw Cacao 
  • 1 cup Almond Milk
  • 1 cup Raw Cashews (soaked overnight in hot water or for 2 hrs at least)
  • 1 Avocado
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • 3 tbsp Maple Syrup
  • Pinch of Salt
  • 1/4 cup Orange Juice
  • 1/4 cup Orange zest 

Topping suggestions

  • Mandarins
  • Melted dark chocolate 


For the base,

  1. combine all ingredients in a food processor and blend
  2. Place/line parchment paper inside your mold of choice and lay the blended crust mixture down evenly
  3. Place the crust in the freezer while you work on your chocolate filling for about 10 mins

For the chocolate-orange filling,

  1. also combine all ingredients in your food processor and mix until the texture is smooth and creamy
  2. Place the chocolate filling over your crust, spreading it evenly, and leave it in the freezer to sit for about 2 hours or keep in the fridge overnight.
  3. Before feasting, make sure you keep the cake out at room temperature ±10mins so it isn’t too frozen.
