WASABI Raw Vegan Cake

Fan of sushi? I sure am... But I never thought I would end up experimenting with wasabi for a dessert creation but here we are! And honestly, I am in awe as to how deliciously balanced & mildly spicy it turned out.

Interesting facts about Wasabi:

  1. It’s known as the Japanese Horseradish
  2. It is difficult to cultivate because it requires a very specific soil type
  3. It is a member of the famous mustard family, Brassicaceae
  4. It is a plant closely related to horseradish and cabbage
  5. It has anti-inflammatory properties
  6. It can help reduce risk of cancer and heart disease
  7. Its plant can be used to treat respiratory problems
  8. Its leaves are edible
  9. It can boost your immune system
  10. It’s known to give you a good ‘kick’ , it is fairly potent

Wait time: 1 hr soaking Raw Cashews + 2 hrs freezer (or overnight)

Prep time: 20 mins

Serves 2 people


For the CRUST

  • 2 Dattes
  • 1 tbsp Raw Cacao
  • 1 tsp Coconut oil
  • ½ tbsp Chia seeds


  • 3 tsp Wasabi powder with 2 tsp water
  • 1 tbsp Coconut cream
  • 1/3 cup warm Water
  • 1 tbsp Avocado
  • ½ cup raw Cashews (soaked 1hr in hot water)

Topping suggestions

  • Grated dark chocolate
  • Fresh banana slices

For the toppings, 

  1. Using a grater/microplane, sprinkle dark chocolate (or milk if you prefer) on top 
  2. Added slices of fresh banana


For the crust,

  1. Combine all ingredients in a food processor and blend until you get a paste like texture
  2. In a silicon mold, lay the crust down evenly.
  3. If you do not have a silicon mold, place/line parchment paper inside your mold of choice and lay the blended crust mixture down evenly.
  4. Place the crust in the freezer while you work on your wasabi cream

For the wasabi cream

  1. In a separate bowl, mix well the 3 tsp wasabi powder with 2 tsp of water 
  2. Then, combine all ingredients in your food processor and mix until the texture is smooth and creamy 
  3. Place the wasabi cream over your crust, spreading it evenly, and leave it in the freezer to sit for about 2 hours or keep in the fridge overnight
